Greetings, fellow business witches and wizards, dream-builders and treasure-seekers! Gather ‘round, for today, I must tell you a HARROWING tale of woe, self-discovery, and existential terror.
I have been committing a grave financial sin. A tragic, devastating, almost-embarrassing-to-admit sin. No, I did not misplace my gold hoard (NEVER). No, I did not forget to invoice a client (only once, and we do not speak of it).
I have been undercharging for my wares. 😱
Yes, dear reader. I, Ophelia the Tiny Business Dragon, Purveyor of Mystical Merch, have been setting my prices not based on logic, or math, or even a whimsical dartboard system—but out of sheer, unadulterated FEAR.
Fear that my customers would disappear faster than a summoned latte in Cheryl’s hands.
Fear that if I charged too much, people would laugh, scoff, or—GASP—say no.
Fear that maybe I wasn’t “worth” the price I actually needed to charge.
And so, instead of making my business a thriving treasure trove of value, I was running it like some kind of chaotic magical yard sale, practically GIVING AWAY my expertise in exchange for mere copper coins and existential dread.
Enter: Cheryl, Destroyer of Fear-Based Pricing.
How Dare You Be Right
She took one look at my pricing strategy (or, let’s be honest, my pricing panic attacks) and said, “Ophelia, do you realize you’re making decisions based on fear, not facts?”
