Best unconventional business advice of the week:
I've read a LOT of words this week, powerful words, and I'd like to share some of the best words and some unconventional business advice…
Find Your Tribe! Having support as a business owner is critical to success. Even after 20+ years of supporting other business owners, I have my own support network. I am a member of the FeMillionaire Society and they play an important role in success and overall well-being as a female business owner. - Cheryl
Forget consistency (until you've figured out what works)
Being consistent at the wrong thing isn't going to do you any good. First experiment. Find out what works. Then, do that consistently
"Most solopreneurs die from indigestion, not starvation." - Michael Lim
"I would rather disappoint everyone around me than disappoint myself. Rather than accept your sad reality, take small action to change it." (and build to larger ones) - Michael Lim
Too much, too fast and you'll burnout, get frustrated, and quit. "Optimize for the marathon, not the sprint." - Michael Lim
Stop trying to turn buyers into brand advocates. Turn followers into fans. "Fans rarely ditch the brands they love. Clients do so more often….A lot of fans advocate for a brand long before they buy its products." - Adriana Tica
"Any business in any industry can build a fanocracy. The only pre-requisite is being human." - Adriana Tica
When servers bring the check without a mint, the patrons will tip according to how they feel about the service. When they bring a mint, the tip jumps by 3.3%.
Runner up: This one isn't unconventional, but is still excellent advice, and the delivery was imaginative (Trekkies this one's for us) - and the article was inspired by a comment I left about the Business Witch Academy on one of his other articles - (the article that inspired this piece here!), so there's that.
"Communication is a matter of patience and imagination." - Captain Picard
"Communication isn’t about barking orders or bombarding your audience with demands. It’s about patience. It’s about imagination. And, critically, it’s about making the recipient feel like they’re part of the conversation, not just another name on a list." -
The Library 📖 at the Business Witch Academy is a reader-supported publication. Knowledge is my product. Like you, I have bills to pay and loved ones to care for. If you ever have, or would, pay a college or university for sharing knowledge with you, and you find value in my writing, please consider a paid subscription so that I can continue with my work.
Stay Magical,
Cheryl
